Coconut Red Chutney

Coconut chutney is essential side dish or dip served with many dishes. It is made by grinding coconut, onion, tomato, red chilies, sesame seeds, channa all together then a tempering of curry leaves and mustard seeds is added to fine paste to make chutney.

Step by step recipe:

  • In a kadhai add 1 tsp oil, let the oil heat on medium flame then add 1 tsp sesame seeds, 1 sliced onion, 1 sliced tomato and ½ tsp salt.
  • Let it cook until tomato becomes soft and tender.
  • In a mixer add ½ cup grated coconut, 4-5 garlic cloves, 8-10 soaked dried red chilies, ½ cup roasted channa, 2tsp tamarind pulp and fried onion tomato mixture.
  • Grind it to make a fine paste.
  • Make a tempering of mustard seeds, curry leaves and dried red chilies and add it over chutney mixture.

Ingredients:

  • Onion 1
  • Tomato 1
  • Sesame seeds 1 tsp
  • Coconut ½ cup
  • Garlic cloves 4-5
  • Dried Red chili(soaked) 8-10
  • Roasted channa ½ cup
  • oil 2 tsp
  • salt 1 tsp
  • Tamarind pulp 2 tsp
  • Curry leaves 4-5
  • Mustard seeds ½ tsp
